Traditional Kyphosis and Scoliosis Braces

The most commonly prescribed and used brace for scoliosis or kyphosis is known as a TLSO (Thoraco-Lumbar-Sacral-Orthosis) and is the generic descriptive name for the common plastic hard braces used in the treatment of scoliosis or hyperkyphosis. There are many of variations of TLSO braces available.

3D Custom-designed Scoliosis Braces and Kyphosis Braces

With the development of new technology such as 3D scanning and computer aided design, and new research into scoliosis and kyphosis bracing, 3D custom designed braces have become the best option for scoliosis bracing and kyphosis bracing. This approach takes into consideration the postural alignment of the patient and the scoliosis deformity in 3 dimensions. Not just based on 2D x-rays. Based on this more accurate 3D assessment, computer aided design is used to create a brace that aims to correct the patients postural and spinal deformity for best patient outcomes.

Dynamic bracing

Dynamic bracing is a treatment option that uses a soft, material brace instead of a rigid, plastic one. This approach uses corrective movements which the dynamic brace encourages in the patient during wear.. For each type of scoliosis a specific corrective movement of the body shape and posture is used.  Dynamic braces are potentially suitable for smaller scoliosis curves.
