SOSORT2022 San Sebastian – Next Stop Melbourne 2023

This month Dr. Jeb McAviney, Michelle McAviney and Rosemary Marchese from ScoliCare travelled to San Sebastian in Spain for SOSORT’s annual meeting. After two years of endless zooms and two virtual conferences, this was SOSORT’s opportunity to reclaim some of the lost time. Needless to say, the trip was well worthwhile. With over 300 delegates, and a vibe unique for a conference, this conference showcased the most current research in conservative care.  There was focus and dedication, but also a real human side of connection after so much time apart.

SOSORT is the International Society of Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment and is dedicated to the conservative management of scoliosis. It is a unique combination of various professions worldwide, all committed to this central aim of reducing the need for surgery. This year, ScoliCare was a proud Platinum Sponsor of the event, continuing years of dedication to this special cause.

Presentations

Jeb presented twice:

  1. The role of scoliosis bracing in adult scoliosis and how different presentations require different biomechanical approaches to bracing.
  2. A case study demonstrating the ScoliBrace approach to a complicated adult deformity case followed by an expert panel discussion!

Rose presented results from a worldwide survey of therapists using scoliosis specific exercises in order to find out exactly what methods many therapists are using once they have finished certification training.

SOSORT 2023 will be part of Spine Week!

Next year SOSORT will be in Melbourne, Australia! This will be the first time that SOSORT will join Spine Week so it’s every delegate’s opportunity to maximise their connection with the spinal treatment community. ScoliCare will be the host for SOSORT so if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!
