FAQ's for professionals
What x-rays should I request for a patient who might have a scoliosis?
X-ray views for diagnosing scoliosis should be PA and Lateral (right) full spine. For PA, include the spine from T1 to S1, the outer margin of the iliac crests (to evaluate the Risser sign) and lateral rib margins (to assess rib angle alignment).
For Lateral, include the spine from C5 to S1 and both femoral heads.
Health professionals who take x-rays can access our Scoliosis X-ray Standardisation Guidelines at support.scolicare.com
What is the best treatment for scoliosis?
The treatment recommended for scoliosis will vary with the individual patient. Their individual situation, the severity and location of the curve, their age and potential for further growth will all contribute to finding the right treatment for them.
It is now well supported in scientific literature that scoliosis bracing is the most effective non-surgical treatment in preventing adolescent scoliosis cases from needing surgery. However, every case is different and needs careful assessment to offer the right treatment options for each individual patient.
How can I get set up to be able to refer my patients to ScoliCare?
We work with health professionals in all fields to help achieve the best results for scoliosis patients. Visit our how to refer page under Professionals on this website to download your referral form. Alternatively you can call us on 1300 883 884 for more information.
If I refer a patient, can they still get treatment at my clinic?
Yes! ScoliCare co-manages cases with other health professionals and we encourage that they continue to see their referring healthcare provider. We can provide updates on patient progress, and support on how to offer adjunctive care within your clinic with tools such as the ScoliRoll orthotic device.

ScoliCare provides accurate assessment, specific exercise rehabilitation programs, and 3D custom bracing treatment options. Each patient is carefully assessed and given recommendation as to the most appropriate treatment for their individual case.
Our team also works with scoliosis surgeons where a surgical opinion is warranted, or if surgery is the most appropriate options for the patient.
